MNI FED: Lack Of Support For A July Cut, But It's Still Live
Heading into Thursday's employment report, implied probability of a 25bp cut in July is around 22% (having briefly pushed through to 25% after the surprise ADP payrolls contraction - see chart). Given what we've heard from FOMC officials since the June meeting, it would probably take a very weak report, including an unemployment rate above 4.3% in June, to force the FOMC off the sidelines on July 30.
MNI FED: FHFA Director Calls For Congress Investigation Into Powell "Malfeasance"
Federal Housing Finance Administration (FHFA) director Pulte has called for a congressional investigation of Fed Chair Powell, seemingly with the objective of getting Powell removed "for cause" (per the Federal Reserve Act, a member of the Fed board can only be removed "for cause", I.e. misconduct). Pulte has previously criticized Powell and called for his resignation for not cutting rates.

MNI US: House Vote On Rule To Progress OBBB Does Not Look Imminent
Punchbowl's Jake Sherman suggests that a House vote on the "rule" to advance toward a debate and full vote on the "One Big Beautiful Bill" is not imminent, due to insufficient Republican votes at this stage. There is no discernable market reaction to the apparent delay, in part because passage was always likely to be a drawn-out process. @JakeSherman on X.com: "HOUSE REPUBLICANS are telling members to go back to their offices. It does not look like a vote on the rule is imminent."
MNI ASIA: Trump Confirms Vietnam Trade Deal
US President Donald Trump posts on Truth Social, "I just made a Trade Deal with Vietnam. Details to follow!". When Trump first announced his 'Liberation Day' 'reciprocal' tariffs in April, Vietnam was in line for a levy of 46%, one of the highest rates of any country worldwide. Last week, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, while speaking at a panel event, that "I hope that you will see that the result [of trade talks] will come earlier than two weeks...Vietnam and the US share a deep understanding on tariffs... I hope that all the positive things will come for us."
MNI SECURITY: UK & Germany To Sign Defence Pact In Coming Weeks: Politico
Politico reports that the UK and Germany will sign a wide-ranging defence pact in the coming weeks that will pledge mutual support in the case of a strategic threat to either. This will provide Germany with mutual assistance clauses with both European nuclear powers, and moves towards Chancellor Friedrich Merz's goal of bolstering deterrents to an attack on the European continent away from the US.
MNI IRAN: Foreign Min-'Serious & Heavy Damage' At Fordow
Speaking to CBS News, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that Iran's nuclear enrichment facility at Fordow suffered "serious and heavy damage" in the US airstrikes on the location in late June. Araghchi: "No one exactly knows what has transpired in Fordow. That being said, what we know so far is that the facilities have been seriously and heavily damaged," adding that "The Atomic Energy Organization... is currently undertaking evaluation and assessment,."
MNI ISRAEL: Hamas 'Studying New Ceasefire Offers"
Reuters reports comments from a Hamas statement saying that the group is "studying new ceasefire offers [that] it received from the mediators". Hamas says it "seeks an agreement that will end the war in Gaza and achieves an Israeli army withdrawal from Gaza." I24 reports senior Hamas official Taher al-Nono stating "We are serious and ready to reach an agreement and are ready to agree to any proposal - if the demands for ending the war are clearly met or whatever will lead to its complete end".

MNI US TSYS: Surprise ADP Jobs Loss Ahead Thursday's June NFP Report
OVERNIGHT DATA
MNI US DATA: A Large Miss For ADP As Slowing Trend Escalates
ADP employment surprisingly fell in June as it continued a trend of clear moderation in recent months compared to what has been a steadier trend for private payrolls up to May ahead of tomorrow’s NFP release. Declines were led by two sectors in particular, one of which has had a strangely weak relationship with BLS payrolls, but it’s still a soft report no matter how you look at it.
MNI US DATA: Challenger Job Cut Announcements Ease Back To More Typical Levels
The Challenger, Gray & Christmas job cuts report showed a relatively benign June after some strong increases earlier in the year. Challenger job cut announcements amounted to 48k in June after 93.8k in May, for a -2% Y/Y decline after some elevated readings earlier this year that were driven by more than just direct DOGE effects. It follows a 47% Y/Y increase in May, 63% Y/Y in April and an average 90% Y/Y through Q1.

MNI US 10YR FUTURE TECHS: (U5) Bull Cycle Remains In Play
A bull cycle in Treasury futures remains intact, however, price reversed hard off highs into Tuesday’s close. Attention is on the next important resistance at 112-15, the 61.8% retracement of the Apr 7 - 11 steep sell-off. Clearance of this hurdle would strengthen a bull theme and expose 112-23, the May 1 high. Note that the uptrend is overbought, a pullback would unwind this position. First key support to watch is 111.07+, the 20-day EMA.
