The German government plans to carry out an analysis of the country’s expected energy consumption and energy supplies, economy minister Katherina Reiche said, cited by Reuters.
- As part of Germany’s coalition government agreement, it previously stated it plans to commission a monitoring report to assess Germany’s power demand and security of supply before the summer break 2025.
- Reiche added that the government plans to examine the country's expected electricity demand, security of supply, the status of grid and renewables expansion.
- The minister further added that the German cabinet is expected to make a decision on lowering the power tax before the summer break, before being implemented by the end of the year.
