German renewables lobby BEE has called on the German government to keep existing renewable energy targets in place as part of the amendment to the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG), it said in a position paper.
- The group has also demanded to establish decentralised energy systems and to potentially introduce CfDs for renewable auctions.
- Germany is planning to present amendments to the existing EEG law his year.
- Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz said last year he agrees with economy minister Katherina Reiche to slightly slow down the pace of the country’s renewable expansion to focus on building new gas-fired power plants.
- Reiche said previously that Germany could slightly lower its renewable ambitions after the monitoring report, commissioned by the government, suggested German power demand is expected to increase at a slower pace than previously expected.
