Early signs of stalling credit growth are already being reflected in credit impulse metrics. A fading credit impulse is not enough to question expectations for Thursday’s ECB decision, but is worth monitoring in the coming months as policymakers assess whether downside activity risks are materialising. Note that the Q3 Bank Lending Survey is released tomorrow, and will be a very important input for the Governing Council on the credit/financial conditions side.
