LNG: Toyko Gas Agrees Preliminary Alaska LNG Deal with Glenfarne

Tokyo Gas has signed a Letter of Intent with energy developer Glenfarne for the offtake of 1 mtpa of LNG from the Alaska LNG project.

• The agreement enables the Japanese LNG buyer to advance meaningful negotiations regarding the purchase of LNG from the project. Tokyo gas said it would gather information in the project and evaluate its economic viability.
• Glenfarne is targeting a final investment decision for the Alaska LNG pipeline in late 2025 and a 2026 FID for the project's LNG export components.
• Glenfarne has lined up preliminary agreements covering more than half of the project's available third-party offtake capacity since assuming the lead developer role in March.
• Other preliminary agreements with Japan's JERA, Taiwan's CPC, South Korea's POSCO and Thailand's PTT total 11mtpa of the 16mtpa Glenfarne expects to contract to reach a financial close for the project.
