Statistics Canada said Thursday it will publish merchandise trade data delayed by the U.S. government shutdown on Dec. 11.

"The tables and tools usually published on Statistics Canada's website with monthly international trade data will not be released until the official September reference month publication, now tentatively scheduled for December 11, 2025," StatCan said. StatsCan uses U.S. customs data for trade reports and is using special estimates in the meantime for GDP. Q3 data will be updated in late February 2026, when statistics for the fourth quarter of 2025 will be published to include actual U.S. data for the month of September, it said, adding that updates could result in larger than normal revisions.

September trade statistics are scheduled for Dec 11, October’s for Jan 8, November’s for Jan 29, December’s for February 19 and January’s for March 12, after which trade data should return to normal schedules, it said.
