Governor Tiff Macklem said Tuesday the Bank of Canada serves the country well, declining to comment directly on a proposal by Quebec's separatist party leading in polls before an election next year to quit the central bank and create its own currency.
"I’ll leave the political commentary to the politicians," Macklem said told reporters after a speech in Montreal.
