Shell CFO Sinead Gorman, speaking in a results call, confirmed that the first cargoes from the 14m mtpa LNG Canada project are expected by mid-2025, Platts reported.
- This aligns with Shell's previous statements. CEO Wael Sawan noted that 2025 is seen as a year of balance for Shell's supply portfolio, with increased supply expected towards the end of the year.
- Regarding a second-phase expansion at LNG Canada, Gorman indicated that it is a future consideration, with the current focus on getting phase one operational.
- Sawan emphasised the importance of further LNG development for both the Canadian economy and global LNG buyers, highlighting favourable gas pricing, low carbon intensity, and proximity to the Asian market as attractive factors.
- However, Sawan stressed that any expansion must make commercial sense.
