LNG: Japanese Utilities Reduce LNG Stocks 4.48% in Week

LNG stockpiles held by Japanese utilities fell by 4.48% on the week to April 6 to 2.13m tons, according to data released by the trade ministry cited by Bloomberg.

  • Stocks are still just above the five year average for the end of March of 2.03m tons and near the average for the end of April.
  • Stockpiles were 1.61m tons around this time in 2024 and around 2.42m tons in 2023.
  • LNG deliveries to Japan rose 0.23m tons in the week to April 7 to 1.34m tons, according to BNEF, while cumulative deliveries so far in April are approximately in line with year ago levels.
