POWER: Cordemais Coal Units Will Not Operate Simultaneously Until Decommissing

The units 4 and 5 of EdF’s 1.2GW Cordemais coal plant will not be operating simultaneously between 19 September 2025 until the end of operations on 31 March 2027, the firm said on Friday.
- EdF plans to shut down its 1.2GW Cordemais coal plant by May 2027 and is exploring transforming the site into a nuclear piping facility to support its expanding nuclear fleet,
- The nuclear piping facility is planned to be commissioned by the end of 2028.
- In September 2024, EdF cancelled plans to convert Cordemais to a biomass plant due to unfavourable technical and economic conditions.
