"Moody's Ratings affirms Alpek's Baa3 ratings; outlook changed to negative" - Bbg / Moody's
Mexico chemical company Alpek had its Baa3 Moody's rating put on outlook negative.
The rating agency cited increased leverage with adjusted debt/EBITDA expected at 5.3x by year end, up from 3.6x at 2023 Y/E.
The leverage ratio deteriorated as a result of weakened EBITDA which for TTM was USD405mn, half of its mid cycle run rate and 1/3rd of its peak level. In order to move back to a stable outlook the company needs higher profitability.
Ratings are maintained at investment grade given the company's strong liquidity and debt maturity profile as well as committed credit facilities.
ALPEKA 2031s were last quoted T+195bp, 11bp tighter since March 31st and 21bp wider YTD.
