AMERICAS OIL: Vaca Muerta Oil Growth to Maintain Momentum in 2025: BNamericas

Argentina's upstream oil sector should maintain momentum in 2025, driven by midstream investments in the Vaca Muerta formation and government deregulation efforts, BNamericas said.
- In 2024, oil production rose 11.1% to 717,100 b/d, over half from Vaca Muerta. Forecasters believe that Vaca Muerta output could hit 1m b/d by 2030.
- 2025 should see continued growth, supported by market deregulation and companies refinancing debt to fund shale projects, Moody’s analyst Martina Gallardo said.
- Output is likely to be increased as producers capitalise on rising evacuation capacity.
- An example is Oldelval's Duplicar project which will increase oil transport capacity from the Neuquén basin to 540,000 b/d.
- Development in Vaca Muerta's northern zone is progressing, but limited dispatch capacity may constrain output, analysts told BNamericas.
