PERU: USDPEN Edges Lower, May CPI Data Due This Weekend

  • USDPEN has edged down by roughly half a percent this week to trade back below 3.65 While local newsflow has been light, new Finance Minister Perez-Reyes reiterated the government’s 3.5% 2025 GDP forecast yesterday.
  • BBVA has said that 3.70 has been established as a resistance level for USDPEN, while trading has been heavier below 3.65, where today’s move leaves the pair.
  • May CPI data will cross this weekend – in April, the annual rate remained below the mid-point of the central bank’s target range at 1.65% Y/y.
