CNH: USD/CNY Fixing Edges Lower, But Error Term Tighter, USD/CNH Edges Up

The USD/CNY fix was set lower again, but only marginally, while the fixing error tightened further. USD/CNH is slightly up from earlier lows, last around 7.0960 (we touched 7.0910 earlier). Focus will now be on early USD/CNY spot trends. The fixing at 7.0843 is another fresh cycle low, while the consensus was 7.0954, leaving the fixing error tighter at -111pips, versus -175pips yesterday.

The USD/CNY fix printed at 7.1089, versus a BBG market consensus of 7.1265
- This fixing moved lower again after bouncing towards the end of last week(Friday's print was 7.1152). The error term adjusted lower to 176 pips (from -307 pips last).
- Spot USD/CNH tracks near 7.1330 in latest dealings, down a little from the highs seen just below the 7.1500 area seen at the end of last week.

- South Korea: Recorded inflows of +$76m Friday, bringing the 5-day total to -$416m. 2025 to date flows are -$1,016m. The 5-day average is -$83m, the 20-day average is +$256m and the 100-day average of +$110m.
- Taiwan: Had outflows of -$784m Friday, with total outflows of -$1,156 m over the past 5 days. YTD flows are positive at +$7,185m. The 5-day average is -$231m, the 20-day average of +$354m and the 100-day average of +$223m.
- India: Had outflows of -$462m as of the 25th, with total outflows of -$1,084m over the past 5 days. YTD flows are negative -$16,286m. The 5-day average is -$217m, the 20-day average of -$166m and the 100-day average of -$40m.
