Reuters reporting comments from the Swiss government on what appears to be an imminent trade deal announcement with the United States. The report notes that the Swiss government said in a statement that US tariffs will be reduced to 15% (from 39%) and thanked US President Donald Trump for his “constructive engagement”. The new 15% tariff rate would align Bern with the neighbouring European Union.

Ishin leader and Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura said that Takaichi had asked for support in the Diet vote to elect a new PM, with the prospect of forming a governing coalition.
