Brazilian state oil company Petrobras said its oil and gas production has not been affected by an ongoing strike, Platts reported.
- Contingency teams have been deployed to maintain operations at floating production units, refineries, and other facilities. The strike began on 15 December after workers rejected a collective-bargaining contract and protested planned budget and payroll cuts.
- 28 production platforms, including 26 in the Campos Basin, had joined the walkout, alongside nine Petrobras-operated refineries, 12 logistics terminals, two biodiesel plants, three thermal power plants, and various gas treatment and compression facilities.
- Workers handed over operations to contingency teams, although unions complained that some staff had been kept on site for up to 60 hours.
- Petrobras remains open to negotiations and emphasised that production and market supplies remain unaffected.
- Industry officials noted the limited impact due to Brazil’s subsalt production, which accounts for around 80% of national output and is largely operated by leased floating units. Past strikes had similarly limited effects on output.
