LNG: Singapore's GasCo to start buying LNG in 2026: Argus
Singapore’s state-owned GasCo aims to be operationally ready to procure LNG by Jan. 1, 2026, according to chief executive Alan Heng, speaking at the Asia Gas Markets 2025 Conference during Singapore International Energy Week and reported by Argus.
- The company has begun talks with potential LNG suppliers to secure long-term contracts. It plans to develop a diverse supply portfolio, balancing long- and short-term contracts from different regions and pricing indices to maintain energy security and affordability.
- Heng noted that much of the anticipated increase in global LNG supply will come from the US, where producers have the flexibility to suspend operations by paying tolling fees, a factor to consider when assessing supply-demand dynamics.
- GasCo will also be prepared to procure spot cargoes if disruptions occur, ensuring stability in domestic supply.

- “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
