Spanish final June HICP inflation was revised up a tenth on a rounded basis, to 2.3% Y/Y (vs 2.2% flash, 2.0% prior) and 0.7% M/M (vs 0.6% flash).
- National headline CPI was also revised up a (rounded) tenth to 2.3% Y/Y (vs 2.2% flash, 2.0% prior). However, core CPI (ex-energy and unprocessed foods) was unrevised at 2.2% Y/Y (vs 2.2% prior). This suggests the upward revision was due to either the energy or unprocessed food components.
- As expected by analysts ahead of the flash release, higher package holiday (10.9% M/M) and airfare prices (12.8% M/M) pushed the CPI leisure and culture/transportation components higher on a sequential basis in June.
- Meanwhile, a 3.5% M/M rise in electricity prices pushed headline CPI higher.
