“Peru: New Interior Minister sworn in” - Andina
Neutral for spreads
• Diaz Zulueta had been serving as vice minister of public safety, a posting within the interior ministry.
• The previous interior minister, Juan Jose Santivañez Antunez, was criticized for failing to contain the ongoing violence and kidnappings in the country. He resigned from the post after being censured by Congress on March 21.
• Peru has enjoyed strong economic growth with a low debt/GDP ratio and an overall stable credit profile. The most recent violence as well as the resignation of the interior minister was not a market moving event and we don’t expect the appointment of a new minister to move the dial either.
