EMISSIONS: Progress For Carbon Removals Integration In UK ETS
UK government will initially adopt a “one-in, one-out” approach for carbon removals integration in UK ETS, a senior official told Carbon Pulse.
- The approach will involve every tonnes of CO2e removed will be matched by a corresponding allowance withdrawn from the market.
- Climate Change Committee (CCC) previously advised that the UK ETS should not include nature-based removals on 11 June, as it would cause increased divergence from the EU ETS, making the EU-UK linkage more difficult, it said
- The integration of removals into the UK ETS is under government consideration, following the completion of the consultation in August 2024. The review and recommendations are due to be published in October 2025.

A bullish trend condition in S&P E-Minis remains intact and the latest pullback appears to have been a correction. Last Friday’s sell-off resulted in a print below the 20-day EMA, at 5794.26. A key support lies at 5728.00, the 50-day EMA. A clear break of this average is required to highlight a stronger reversal and signal scope for a deeper retracement. Sights are on the bull trigger at 5993.50, the May 20 high.
