POLAND: Parliament To Start Appointing Fiscal Council Members Soon

Business Insider reported that fiscal hawk and ex-Finance Ministry official Sławomir Dudek is the front-runner to become head of the new Fiscal Council, which will start working at the beginning of next year. The Council will scrutinise the Finance Ministry's macroeconomic forecasts and provide counsel on compliance with local and EU fiscal rules. The names of candidates to the Council are submitted to the Sejm Speaker. Candidates will be interviewed by the Public Finance Committee (FPB) before MPs choose seven members and submit them for Senate's approval.
US Army Europe spokesman Terry Welch confirmed that the US relocated its troops from the temporary base in Rzeszów-Jasionka but said that it will not affect the delivery of aid to Ukraine. The base and the nearby airport are a critical logistical hub for the delivery of foreign materiel donated to Kyiv.
Poland 2050's (P2050's) Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz warned that without her party 'there is no government (...), there is no coalition' but said that P2050 will honour its end of the coalition deal. Her party nominated her to the position of Deputy Prime Minister but the final decision rests with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The Finance Ministry will offer PLN2bn-4bn of T-bills at today's auction.
