Suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra told the Cabinet that she expected to resume her duties after the Constitutional Court delivers its verdict in her ethics case this Friday, while her Pheu Thai Party (PTP) MPs were instructed to gather by the Government House to hear the ruling that will define their leader's political future.
- PTP spokesman Danuportn Punnakanta said that if the court prevents Paetongtarn from continuing in Prime Minister's role, the party will propose its only remaining prime ministerial candidate, Chaikasem Nitisiri, to assume the position.
- We summarised pending legal cases against key members of the powerful Shinawatra family in a recent piece, where we provide a briefing on their context and discuss different scenarios.
- Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), which defected to the opposition a few months ago, denied preparing a bid to become Prime Minister.
