POWER: Orlen-Synthos SMR JV Talks May Last Months: Orlen
Discussions with Synthos regarding the Orlen Synthos Green Energy JV, which plans to develop a fleet of SMRs in Poland, may continue for several more months as financial talks progress, Orlen CEO Ireneusz Fafara said, cited by ISB News.
- The companies have initiated an agreement on the JV's structure, but external evaluations are needed to assess the project's value, Fafara added.
- “We have started talking about financial matters, which are more difficult…. And it's not easy to value something that doesn't exist anywhere in the world yet," the CEO noted.
- Poland's nuclear energy investments include a PLN60bn (€15bn) budget for its first nuclear project in Pomerania and ongoing exploration of SMRs by Polish companies.
- The country is eyeing a total nuclear capacity of around 6-9GW in the upcoming decades.

The medium-term trend condition in Treasury futures is down, however a bullish short-term cycle highlights a corrective phase and the contract is holding on to its recent gains. Attention is on 109-12+, the 50-day EMA - a level tested on Monday. A clear break of this EMA would strengthen a bullish theme and open 109-31, the Dec 18 high. The bear trigger is 107-06, the Jan 13 low. Initial support has been defined at 108-00, the Jan 16 low.
