POWER: Norway Proposes Compensation for Long-Run Grid Projects

Norway’s RME/NVE is proposing a new compensation scheme to ensure grid companies can earn a fair return on large projects with long construction times, the regulator said.
- The scheme covers transmission and regional grid projects with construction times exceeding three years, providing compensation on the tied-up capital at the reference interest rate.
- However, local distribution networks are excluded, as there is no identified risk of undercompensation at this level, RME/NVE noted.
- The consultation period closes on 1 April 2026, and the regulatory change is set to take effect on 1 September 2026, applying from the 2026 income adjustment decision.

- Futures trade as high as 93.95, nearing resistance at 93.98.
- A break would reignite bullish momentum and switch focus to nearby round number resistance at 94.00, followed by some Fibonacci projections (94.24 & 94.60).
- Yields now ~8bp lower across the curve, with fresh session lows registered across the curve.
- Only 2s have broken below October yield lows when it comes to benchmark yields.
