North American offline refinery capacity is seen falling by at least 1m b/d in May, down from the peak of 2.5m b/d in April, Kpler said.
- The April high reflects the ongoing turnarounds at key facilities such as: Valero Jean Gaulin, BP Cherry Point, PBF Martinez, and Flint Hills Rosemount, Kpler added.
- Seasonal maintenance is now nearing completion, allowing for stronger crude intakes and higher utilisation rates as the summer peak approaches.
- In Latin America, Brazil’s refinery outages eased following completed maintenance and the RNEST and Isaac Sabba refineries, IIR said.
- However, maintenance at other Petrobras sites should keep offline capacity heightened for the remainder of 2025.
