The European Commission will decide in coming days whether to maintain its recommendation for an excessive deficit procedure against Austria, it said in a statement on Tuesday
Austria Finance Minister Gunter Mayr earlier presented proposals to bring down his country’s budget deficit below 3% of GDP next year to Economy Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.
“We are currently looking into and assessing the measures presented,” the Commission said in a statement following the meeting. “We will provide our views in the coming days.” (See MNI POLICY: EU Likely To Ease Debt Reduction Rules)
