The fresh cycle high this week confirms a resumption of the primary uptrend and maintains the bullish price sequence of higher highs and higher lows. The trend structure in Eurostoxx 50 futures remains bullish. This week’s fresh cycle highs reinforces a bull theme and the move higher maintains the rising price sequence of higher highs and higher lows.
  • A bear cycle in GBPUSD remains intact and this week’s bearish price action strengthens current conditions. The pair has breached 1.3249, the Oct 14 low and a bear trigger. The trend structure in EURJPY is bullish. The cross traded to a fresh cycle high on Thursday, confirming once again, a resumption of the primary uptrend. Sights are on 178.94 next, a 1.236 projection of the Jul 31 - Sep 29 - Oct 2 price swing. A strong rally in USDCAD Thursday highlights a reversal of the corrective bear leg between Oct 14 - 29. Note that the climb suggests that Wednesday’s candle - a doji - is a valid pattern and therefore a potential reversal signal.

The breach of this EMA signals scope for a stronger recovery.
  • A short-term bear cycle in Bund futures remains intact. The move down that started on Oct 17 still appears corrective and this has allowed an overbought trend condition to unwind. The next important support to watch lies at the 50-day EMA. The trend structure in Gilt futures is unchanged, it remains bullish and the contract is holding on to the bulk of its recent gains.
