China's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index rose by 0.2 points to 49.7 in June, but remained below the breakeven 50 mark for the third month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Monday.
The production and new order sub-indices were 51.0 and 50.2 respectively, up 0.3 and 0.4 points from the previous month, both in the expansionary zone as output and demand recovered.
The non-manufacturing PMI registered 50.5, up 0.2 points from the previous month. The business activity sub-index for the service sector edged down by 0.1 points to 50.1, as the holiday effect faded. The expectation sub-index was also down 0.1 points to stay in a relatively high prosperity range of 56.0, with most service businesses remaining optimistic about future development.
