MNI BRIEF:China Has Begun Granting Rare Earth General Licenses

Beijing has begun issuing general licenses to compliant rare-earth exporters, He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, told reporters on Thursday.

The licenses, which are intended to fast-track the export control process, had come after gaining more experience with exports and compliance processes, He added. 

Germany’s manufacturers are being beaten by China at home and abroad, a leading economist recently told MNI, calling for authorities to support future-oriented industries and boost productivity rather than attempting to reignite the economy through spending and tax cuts.
