US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed to "fast track" EU-US trade talks in their call Sunday, EC Chief Spokesperson Paula Pinho told reporters Monday, agreeing to "fast track the negotiations and to stay in close contact."
Pinho added that there is now a "new impetus in the negotiations and we will take it from there", adding that there were also signs of "engagement" to securing a deal on the part of Trump.
EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will hold a further call later Monday to discuss next steps in the trade talks.
