MNI BRIEF: Labor Department IG Starts Review Of BLS Data

The Labor Department’s Office of Inspector General said Wednesday it is reviewing the challenges around collecting and reporting economic data that the Bureau of Labor Statistics is facing. 

The focus will be on the challenges and related mitigating strategies for collecting PPI and CPI data and collecting and reporting, including revising, monthly employment data, according to a memo from Laura Nicolosi, assistant inspector general for audit, addressed to BLS acting commissioner William Wiatrowski.
