Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan on Tuesday said it could be the fall before it is clear how much impact rising import tariffs have on inflation.

"My expectation is we'll be looking at the data over the course of the summer and into the fall before we really have a good read on how they're affecting prices overall," she said about the impacts of the Trump administration's tariff policies. "Many businesses talk about how they want to wait and see how the tariffs ultimately are settled before they pass those prices on to consumers which could affect their business ... I think the combination of all that, the fact that it takes suppliers some time for these intermediate goods to pass to the whole supply chain, all of those things take time."

"We have to be cautious as we look at these issues, particularly because we're coming off a period of such high inflation, you really have a responsibility to make sure that any shift in inflation expectations doesn't become entrenched or persistent," Logan said at a World Affairs Council of San Antonio event.
