Federal Reserve officials must remain open to various outcomes for the direction of interest rates including a hike in response to higher inflation as tariffs sink in, Governor Lisa Cook said Tuesday.
“We have to be open to all possibilities. We don’t know how tariffs are going to play out. One could imagine those scenarios – cutting, staying or hiking, happening,” she said at Council on Foreign Relations event. (See MNI POLICY: Fed Cut Impetus Fades Alongisde Recession Fears)
