Eurozone inflation inched higher in June, but was in line with expectations of City analysts, data released by Eurostat on Tuesday showed.
Headline inflation rose to 2.0% from the 9-month low of 1.9% seen in May. Core inflation, closely watched by ECB policymakers, was unchanged in May at 2.3%, though services prices edged higher to 3.3%, also in line with expectations.
With prices at the ECB's 2% medium-term target, policymakers gathering in Sintra for their annual forum could be forgiven some mild celebration, though the official line remains that the disinflation trend remains intact and care must still be taken given global uncertainties.
