European Union diplomats have amended draft EU summit conclusions, putting a more urgent stress on the need for an urgent review of the implementation of ETS2 by the European Commission and national energy ministers.
In the new draft, the Commission is asked to "present a revision of the ETS2 implementation framework, including all relevant aspects", with the issue now seen as "a priority and highly politicised domestically." (see MNI: EU Likely To To Limit Fuel Price Hit From ETS2 CO2 Scheme )
The draft also calls on the Commission, states and European Parliament to "promptly take work forward." Leaders are due to discuss the implementation of ETS2 as well as the 2040 carbon reduction deadline on Thursday in Brussels. (see MNI SOURCES: Doubts Over EU Carbon Pricing Key For ECB Rates )
