MNI BRIEF: EU SAFE Loan Facility Fully Subscribed - Commission

The EU's EUR150bn defence loan facility has now been fully subscribed by EU member states, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen noted in a statement Thursday following the 'Coalition of the Willing' summit in Paris.
"We need a surge in defence investment. Therefore it is good news that SAFE, our EUR150bn defence fund, is fully subscribed with 19 member states participating," she said.
Von der Leyen said that Ukraine must be turned into a "steel porcupine" and added that EU defence industries are "accelerating cooperation to make this happen."
