EU 2025 economic growth will be slightly higher than the 1.1% forecast in the European Commission's Spring forecasts, Economy Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said Friday.

The commissioner said the upward revision was driven by stronger-than-expected growth in the first half of this year, but added that momentum was likely to slow through the rest of the year because of "numerous headwinds", including weaker global trade growth as well as continued uncertainty and geopolitical turbulence.

Dombrovskis said that as a result the outlook for next year would be "somewhat weaker" than that shown in its Spring forecast. The Commission is expected to publish its autumn forecasts in November.

Last week, the ECB upped its 2025 growth projection from 0.9% seen in June to 1.2% now.
