China and the U.S. will keep talking using the economic and trade negotiation mechanism, constantly enhancing consensus, reduce misunderstandings and strengthen cooperation, He Yadong, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce told reporters Thursday.

Beijing will consider reasonable demands for rare earth-related items in the private sector, and keep strengthening the approval of compliant applications for export licenses, said He.

MNI reported earlier that the framework reached during China-U.S. talks in London could pave the way for a trade deal by mid-August, potentially including Chinese purchases of U.S. Treasury bonds, and for a meeting between the two countries' presidents later this year.
