China’s Logistics Prosperity Index rose to 50.9% in November, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said Wednesday.

Logistics sector activity remained in the expansion range, with the energy-related sector slowing, demand in industrial manufacturing improving and household consumption–related logistics stabilising, according to Liu Yuhang, director at the China Logistics Information Center. The fixed-asset investment index for the logistics sector reached 55.4%, while the business activity expectation index stood at 54.9%, both remaining in a high-prosperity range, the data showed.

Chinese officials will aim to raise the household consumption-to-GDP ratio by an average of one percentage point per year over the next five years from the current 39.9% towards the 50-70% range typical of developed economies. (See MNI POLICY: China Targets Investment)
