• In a busier session for G10 FX, the Japanese yen has traded in a volatile manner once again on Tuesday, registering a 121pip range. The pair has extended intra-day gains to 0.6% in recent trade, with today’s 151.71 high extending the bounce from the Friday lows to 1.55%.
• Market sentiment has centred around Japan's parliament confirming that Takaichi will become the nation’s first female prime minister. Takaichi is set to tap Satsuki Katayama as the country’s first female finance minister, according to local media.
• Yesterday’s hawkish remarks from the dissenting BOJ’s Takata have been broadly shrugged off. Furthermore, the BOJ is likely to maintain its assessment that risks to prices are “balanced” at next week’s policy meeting, as the number of board members seeing upside risks is unlikely to increase enough to shift the overall view, MNI understands.
• The recovery from last Friday’s low in USDJPY is beginning to highlight a stronger bullish signal. The pair has found support below the 20-day EMA and note that Friday’s price pattern is a hammer candle formation.
• If correct, the pattern signals the end of a corrective pullback that started Oct 10, and highlights the fact that support at the 50-day EMA, at 148.94, remains intact. The bull trigger is at 153.27, the Oct 10 high.
