LATAM FX: LATAM FX Price Signal Summary – Monitoring Resistance In USDMXN

Nov-03 14:28
  • Recent gains in USDMXN have resulted in a move above resistance around the 50-day EMA, at 18.5048. The move higher has exposed resistance at 18.6372, the Oct 10 high. Clearance of this hurdle would confirm a clear breach of the 50-day EMA, and signal a possible short-term reversal. This would expose 18.8637 initially, the Sep 2 high. For now, the medium-term trend remains bearish - the bear trigger lies at 18.2008, the Sep 17 low. A resumption of the downtrend would open 18.1837, the 61.8% retracement of the Apr 9 ‘24 - Feb 3 bull leg, ahead of the 18.000 handle.
  • USDBRL maintains a short-term bearish tone. The bear cycle that started off the Oct 10 high highlights a deeper retracement of the bull leg between Sep 18 and Oct 10. Resistance at the 50-day EMA, at 5.3997, remains intact. A continuation down would expose 5.2697, the Sep 18 low and bear trigger. Key resistance has been defined at 5.5214, the Oct 10 high. Clearance of this level would reinstate the recent bullish theme.
  • The trend condition in USDCLP remains bearish. Recent weakness  resulted in a break of key short-term support and the bear trigger at 945.53, the Oct 9 low. This confirms a continuation of the downtrend. Note too that 937.00, the 76.4% retracement of the Jul 2 - 30 bull leg, has been pierced. An extension would open 922.67, the Jul 2 low and a key support. On the upside, key short-term resistance is seen at 954.88, the 50-day EMA.

  • SUP 4: 0.6373 Low Jun 23

The AUDUSD uptrend remains intact and recent weakness appears to have been a correction. Support to watch lies at the 50-day EMA, at 0.6558. A clear break of this average would signal scope for a deeper retracement and expose 0.6527 once again, a Fibonacci retracement. For bulls, a stronger reversal higher would refocus attention on 0.6707, the Sep 17 high. Initial resistance to watch is 0.6629, the Sep 30 and Oct 1 high.
