IRAN: Khamenei Decries US & Israel; Snapback Sanctions Possible In Sep-Axios

Speaking to the head and senior officials of the judiciary and heads of justice departments, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claims that the Iranian strikes on the US' Al Udeid airbase in Qatar, launched in response to the US strikes on Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities, were a "huge blow" at a "sensitive" location for the US, adding that "Of course, a bigger blow than this can be inflicted on the US and others." Khamenei's address largely follows the usual pattern of decrying Israeli and US actions in the Middle East, and is unlikely to be viewed as a specific threat of further escalation. 

• Earlier in the week, Iranian Foreign Ministry spox Esmaeil Baqaei said, when asked about a future meeting between US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, that "For now, no specific date, time or location has been determined regarding this matter."
• This comes as Axios reports that the US and E3 (France, Germany, UK) have agreed that if a nuclear deal has not been agreed with Iran by end-August, then Tehran will face 'snapback' sanctions. These take 30 days to implement, with the E3 keen to get the process completed before Russia takes over the UN Security Council chair in October.
• The article claims that the E3 is pushing for swift talks with Tehran that will push Iran to readmit International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to reassure the world about its nuclear programme.
