“MANDATE: Kallpa Generacion FI Investor Calls Starting Tuesday” – Bbg
IPTs 10Y: N/A
FV 10Y: T+135bp Area
• Peru’s largest electricity generation company, privately owned Kallpa Generacion, mandated investor meetings ahead of potential issuance of USD benchmark senior unsecured 10-year notes. Use of proceeds will be to buy back any and all 2027 notes with USD650mn outstanding.
• KALLPA 2032s were issued late January 2025 at +163bp, last quoted at a G-spread of T+120bp. We note that at the time of issuance demand was strong as investors valued that bonds were issued at the OPCO level as well as the scarcity of Peru corporate bonds, especially those rated investment grade.
• In the Peru electric space, we have comps Niagara Energy SAC (NIAENE; Baa3/BBB-/BBB-) which has holding company bonds maturing in 2034 quoted at a G-spread of T+143bp. Peru dominant electricity transmission company Transmantaro (TRANSM; Baa3/NR/BBB) has 10.8-year WAL notes at a G-spread of T+122bp.
• In nearby Chile we have comps including vertically integrated Chile electric company COLBUN (COLBUN; Baa2/BBB/BBB+) with 32s last quoted at a G-spread of T+110bp. Global electric generator AES’s Chile subsidiary AES Andes (Baa3/BBB-/BBB-) has 7-year notes at a G-spread of 175bp.

JGBs rallied sharply alongside global bond markets Friday, piercing mid-week resistance in the process. The first important resistance to watch is 141.48, the May 2 high. A break of this level would be viewed as an early bullish signal. A return lower would signal scope for an extension towards 136.57, a Fibonacci projection.
A short-term bullish corrective phase in USDCAD remains in play despite sharp weakness Friday. On the recent run higher, price traded through the 50-day EMA at 1.3739 and this has been followed by a break of resistance at 1.3798, the Jun 23 high. Clearance of 1.3798 represents an important short-term bullish development, signalling scope for a stronger recovery. Sights are on 1.3920 next, the May 21 high. On the downside, initial firm support to watch lies at 1.3716, the 20-day EMA.
