TURKEY: Intra-CHP Tensions Arising Following Court Ruling

- Following the court-ordered removal of CHP’s Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ozgur Celik, strategic battles have erupted within the CHP, Hurriyet report. Party’s chairman Ozgur Ozel said Celik remains in office, while the new appointee Gursel Tekin has also claimed to have taken the post. Signatures are being collected for an extraordinary provincial congress.
- Commenting on the trajectory of inflation for the rest of the year, Dunya note that annual inflation in the 28-30 percent range, and the resulting double-digit salary increases for SSK (Social Security Institution), Bağkur (Social Security Institution), and civil servant retirees, is a strong possibility.
