ISRAEL: IDF Confirms Reservist Callup, Netanyahu Warns Of Iranian Response
Jun-13 15:34
Israel's Ynet reports that according to a military spox, "as part of the defence and attack assessments in all sectors," the army began recruiting reserve soldiers from various units for various combat sectors throughout the country." The calling up of military reservists should not necessarily be viewed as a precursor to Israeli boots on the ground in Iran, but instead an indication that Israel is fully expecting a significant Iranian response to its overnight attacks.
In a video statement (full text here), PM Benjamin Netanyahu says that there should be no public euphoria over the attacks, as the battle against Iran is not over. Says that the IDF has launched an amazing preemptive strike, but that Iran's response is coming. Says that Israel's goal now is to address Iran's missile production capability. Netanyahu claims that Israeli strikes destroyed the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility [not verified yet], and says there are other goals. Calls the attacks a historic turning point and that his gov't wants to end the 'Iranian axis'.
As noted earlier, Israel's 'Operation Rising Lion' is not yet over. Recent media reports claim that strikes have been heard in Karaj, to the west of Tehran and in the city of Qom. The Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) has published an interactive map with locations of strikes and Iranian nuclear and military facilities.
