The Chilean government’s emergency office Senapred says on X that it’s requesting evacuation of coastal areas in the region of Magallanes in the country’s far south, as well as the nation’s territory in Antarctica. Senapred cites risk of tsunami after the region was hit earlier Friday by a 7.5-magnitude earthquake, according to preliminary reading from USGS.
