Golden Pass LNG bought a “cool-down” cargo to be delivered sometime between Oct. and Nov., according to Bloomberg sources. Data show facility will receive more than 8.5 mmcf/d today, a new record.
- A cool-down cargo is needed to chill the export terminal’s equipment before liquefaction can begin.
- Golden Pass is scheduled to start exporting LNG later this year or early next year, according to Bloomberg.
- BNEF estimates that Golden Pass will receive record 8.529 mmcf/d of feedgas today, while MNI estimations show the facility will receive 8.784 mmcf/d. The previous peak was on July 23 at about 4 mmcf/d.
- Exxon Mobil, which is developing the facility with QatarEnergy, said in Sept. it’s confident that mechanical completion will occur in December and first LNG will come “right at that point or shortly thereafter.”
- Golden Pass received US approval to re-export LNG on September 23.
- On the previous day, FERC provided approval to Golden Pass LNG to introduce hazardous fluids into the remaining essential diesel generators.
- In August, Kpler estimated that the first send out of Golden Pass LNG’s first cargo would be in April 2026, raising the facility’s 2026 supply from 2.5 mtpa to 4 mtpa in, and taking the total US export volume for next year to 126.2 mtpa, according to Kpler estimates.
