As noted a short time ago (see 'OIL: Iran Agrees To Fourth Round of Nuclear Talks: Tasnim, 1543BST), Iranian media reports that an Iranian delegation will travel to Muscat, Oman for another round of indirect talks with the US on Sunday, 11 May. There have been reports in recent days suggesting a fourth set of discussions were likely, but this is the first confirmation from the Iranian side reported in the domestic press.
- Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will visit Qatar and Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 10 May, and participate in the Iran-Arab World Dialogue summit in Doha. Qatar's Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reports that Araghchi will update Arab leaders on the progress of the US talks to date ahead of the fourth round.
- In our 8 May US Daily Brief, we noted "Trump may meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian next week during his [13-16 May] trip to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates if an agreement-in-principle is reached on a nuclear accord with Tehran".
- In an interview with right-wing outlet Brietbart News, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said regarding talks with Iran, "I believe in [Trump's] policy of attempting to settle the Iranian conflict through dialogue. First of all, that’s a more permanent solution to that crisis than any other alternative. [...] If we get them to [...] not have material that can be enriched to weapons-grade levels 90 percent,[...] that is the most permanent way to make sure that they never get a weapon. So [Trump's] prescription for the solution there is the best prescription"
