JET FUEL: Europe’s Air Travel Demand Finding Support
May-28 16:58
Europe’s aviation market has overtaken pre-pandemic levels, supporting the region’s jet fuel producers, Bloomberg said.
Flights averaged almost 33k per day, a 2% increase on 2019, according to Eurocontrol.
This spring is the first time since 2020’s lockdown that European air-travel data has consistently exceeded pre-pandemic levels, Eurocontrol added.
Demand plummeted in 2020 due to draconian restrictions on travel and the closing of global borders.
The rise in flights is helping to boost jet demand, which is seen up 5% on the year in Q2 at 1.8m b/d, BNEF said. Demand is seen climbing further in Q3.
The jet crack is currently pricing at around $19/b, above the 10-year seasonal average, according to General Index.
