EMISSIONS: EU Carbon Permit Price Rises

The latest EU ETS CAP3 auction cleared higher at €67.95/ton CO2e, compared with €67/ton CO2e in the previous auction, while narrowing the discount to the futures contract according to EEX.
- The auction cleared at a 0.04€/ton CO2e discount to the futures contract, compared with a 0.05€/ton CO2e discount in the previous auction.
- The cover ratio was at 1.63, compared with 1.67 in the previous auction and below the five-year average but within the five-year range.
- There was a total of 22 bids with 17 successful bids.
- The mean price was at €68.43/t CO2e and the median price was at €67.68/t CO2e.
- EU ETS December 2024 allowances have eased back this morning, with downward pressure from EU gas prices and winder, warmer weather forecasts.
- EUA DEC 24 down 0.9% at 68.03 EUR/MT
